The
Course Objectives
With
unprecedented levels of retirement and the loss of
knowledge and skills that goes with it, there has never been a greater
need to
train system operators faster. Simulation
based training is used by today’s leading edge utilities to
accelerate the experience
of new entrants as they prepare for real-time operations.
At the end of
this course, participants will be able to:
- Apply
the Recognition Primed Decision Model to Emergency Operations
-
Communicate
and make decisions among team members to resolve system emergencies
-
Control
power system equipment prior to, during, and after major system
disturbances
- Apply
the PowerSimulator
Who
Should Attend?
Operations
Engineers, Distribution Operators,
Transmission Operators, Control Area Operators, Reliability
Coordinators. Suitable
for basic to advanced level
participants.
The course will
not only enhance their skills but also provide a broader basis for
further development of their careers.
Continuing
Education Opportunities
The Australian
Power Institute
has identified a need to provide practical
post graduate training for engineers employed in the power industry.
This
course is a professional development course. It is aimed at power
engineers who
would like to broaden their appreciation of power engineering at both a
theoretical and practical level. The
course is also included in a Graduate
Certificate in Renewable Energy and Power Systems offered at
the University
of Tasmania:
